Play-to-earn games have received a lot of attention recently. While Bitcoin was in a bit of a dip, the cryptocurrencies based around gaming went completely parabolic.

Today, we will introduce you to an exciting upcoming P2E game with a lot of potential. Our overall thesis from the #play2earn sector stems from the massive community already thriving around games. If you have ever seen a YouTuber play a video game live, or a twitch streamer, you will have already recognized this phenomenon. Individuals pour thousands of hours of their time into these games, helping the overall growth of the community cause network effect itself. The player on the other hand, after spending all this time, has nothing to show for it. What’s Legends of Elumia all about?

It’s a play-to-earn MMORPG(Massively multiplayer online role-playing) game that will be available for PC and mobile. Mobile first gaming is a hugely important part of the development of this sector, so many people around the world do not have an at-home computer, but have access to the newer smartphones. Legends of Elumia will be built on Solana to provide players with fast, secure, and cheap transactions.

In Legends of Elumia, each player has complete ownership of their characters and equipment. That’s because the in-game characters and equipment are NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) based on the blockchain.

Players will have many ways to earn additional income through the game by battling other players and completing certain missions. The ownership of their digital hours spent forging their way through the gameplay is now signified by the ownership of these one-of-a-kind or rare digital assets within the game.

What makes Legends of Elumia unique?

There are many things you can do in this game. You can:

  • Level up and upgrade your characters and equipment
  • Gain rare items
  • Socialise with other players
  • Team up to rade powerful enemies
  • Battle other players

In addition to these game mechanics,  Legends of Elumia has a city where you can interact with other players and even create your own virtual economies and communities.

Also, using the power of DeFi and play-to-earn, users of the game will have a say in the future of the game. Players could also stake their coins for additional rewards.

Players can also upgrade their assets, trade them or sell them as  NFTs within the Solana market place and ecosystem. In addition, the team behind the game plans to offer the different buildings in the city as NFTs, so anyone could own a piece of the game like land and potentially the income of what those properties do within the game play itself. 

Players will also be able to customize their land and turn it into houses, shops, or crafting stations. If other players use these houses, the owners will get a small percentage of the revenue.

 

The gameplay of Legends of Elumia?

The gameplay revolves around the city of Elumia. It’s surrounded by an ancient tower called The Infinite Tower. The city is the place where players can interact with each other. They can trade, fight, shop and pick up new quests and tasks. Emerging the player inside the story and journey of their character.

The portals of the Infinity Tower are where players enter to start doing different quests. These portals transport the users to open areas and dungeons where they can fight different enemies earning rewards and potentiall discovering new items.  

When they go through these battles, the characters gain experience, increasing their levels. Also, they can access new loot and resources. Another way to gain resources is to fight different players in duels or team battles. These incentives in the game mechanics will continue to get players to return to the ecosystem.

You can then use these resources to upgrade your character, create new items or boost your existing ones.

Your character is an NFT. These characters can have countless different appearances, so no two players look the same. Each in-game character has stats and skills that affect the way you can play them. This allows for more social interaction and team play since different players contribute different things to the team.

 

  The Team- 

There’s an entire game development studio of 40 people behind Legends of Elumia. They started back in 2006. So far, they have succesfully built 4 MMORPGs, Legends of Elumia will be the 4th one.Well positioned within the gaming ecosystem and versed in the mechanics that makes gameplay engaging, they are primed for succes. The team behind Legends of Elumia consists of:

  • CEO, Richard –  21 years of experience in the gaming industry as a programmer, project leader and CEO. He has worked on 4 MMORPGs, including some big names like Warhammer and Star Trek.
  • COO, Simon -  14 years of experience in executive management and operations. Simon specializes in product development, marketing & business strategy. He has 5 years of experience in the blockchain space.
  • CMO, James - 25 years of experience in marketing, including 5 years in gaming. James has worked with some big-name brands like Harley Davidson, Arsenal Football Club and Coca Cola.
  • The CCO, Alex -  15 years of experience lies in the gaming industry. He has worked in lead art roles on games like Dungeon Hunter, Asphalt and Modern Combat.
  • The blockchain engineer/advisor, Sergey - Over 20 years of experience in software development. He’s the former co-founder and CTO of Block Gemini.
  • Legal, Jason - He’s the founder and managing partner of Silk Legal. His interest and experience in tech and innovation make him a leader in blockchain.
  • Lead programmer, Nuttavut - He has 16 years of experience in the gaming industry. He has been a lead programmer of many PC, console and mobile games, including Warhammer and Final Fantasy.
  • Head of the global community, Tyler - He has managed community growth for three different MMORPGs, one of which is Star Citizen.
  • Technical art director, Vadym - He brings 16 years of experience in the gaming industry. He has worked on games like Rainbox 6, Asphalt and Nova 3.
  • Lead world builder, Kevin - He has 21 years of experience in the gaming industry. He has worked on big projects like Forza, Guild Wars 2 and Dungeons & Dragons.

What’s the tech behind Legends of Elumia? 

Legends of Elumia’s team has used C# to build the game client in combination with the latest Unity engine. Why Unity? Because their graphics allow them to create gorgeous visual effects with less computation overhead. The server has been tested, and it’s secure, reliable, ensuring high performance. The team has used the Unity engine for all of their  previous MMORPG games, ensuring its performance within this style of gameplay. This creates a dynamic workflow for the developers and allows in-game visuals to scale quickly if need be.

Why did Legends of Elumia’s team choose Solana?  

Legends of Elumia is built of Solana because of the performance. Solana is fast, cheap, and it’s censorship-resistant. It can process more than 50k transactions per second while providing security for its users. Also, Solana allows the transfer of NFTs between users at almost zero fees, so it makes sense for the entire Legends of Elumia ecosystem. We here at the Arcane Bear are very strong believers that the Solana ecosystem is going to be the leading edge of the PLay 2 Earn sector alongside the social "web 3" layer. Due to the nature of some of these game's coding, Solana is also a better choice to find a deeper pool of talent within the coding ecosystem. This is a very strong positioning for the long term.
